JGSPBCI BOARD MEETING ZOOM (Covid)

October 28, 2020 PENDING BOD APPROVAL

Absent: Sylvia Nusinow, Mark Jacobson

President Ina Getzoff called the meeting to order at 1:02 pm.

Secretary:  Beryl Cole read the minutes from September 23, 2020. Dennis Rice moved to accept the minutes.

Treasurer: Larry Schulman reported our operating account has $26,261.58. Our reserve account had $16,228.10 as of September 30, 2020.

Committee Reports

Membership : Eric Sharenow reported that we have 128 individual memberships and 38 family memberships. Total of 166.

Last year we had total of 313 memberships and the year before was 292  memberships. The membership committee will be calling the non-renewers to try to determine why they did not renew and will report the results at the next meeting.

Publicity Chair (external): Walter Rosenthal stated that Aberdeen is starting their own Genealogy Club with Alan Thiermann.  Hadassah at Aberdeen requested a speaker from us, as well as Temple Israel. Ina stated that she didn’t call anyone. Mona suggested that with Zoom, anyone can speak on any date from the Speakers Bureau.

Publicity Chair (internal): Marilyn Lane said that the next meeting notice would go out on Friday for our November 11, 2020 meeting. The second meeting notice will go out by MailChimp.

Reception chair: Glenn Siegel feels that our previous members need a little more time to get used to the current state of affairs.

Programming chair: Dennis Rice stated that we have excellent speakers, including: Nord and Suzanne Bru, Robin Maggid, and Ellen Kowitt.  Always looking for SOS speakers. Ina suggested Molly Staub. Dennis said he can contact her through Allan Huss and Scattered Seeds.

Directory: Mona doesn’t have anything to report. We need to keep the incentive of the Directory to encourage memberships. The Board doesn’t like the new name of the family input sheet (the lavender sheet). Family Origin Sheet. The Directory should be updated at least once a month. Mona would like the fonts to be larger in the directory.

Website : Larry walked us through the new website. Walter, Eric, Larry and John Cole have been tackling the website. We discussed using one ID to get in and a password for members to get to the presentations, the directory, and the handouts from our speakers. There were some suggestions for changes to the website. For example, under the Board of Directors, the deceased should be marked by an asterisk. Allan suggested that the Directory be labeled for Personal Use only.  All Presidents should be listed. All scholarship winners should be on the website as well.  We will have the ability to track visitors to our website. There will be hyperlinks to membership committee, to Scattered Seeds, and to Programming.

We will ask our Speakers if we can have permission to record their presentations for our members to see and hear at their convenience for a limited amount of time.

All of our proprietary information will be available to Board Members only.

There is some information we don’t have access to. Ina will contact Cindy Potter Taylor for that information.

Marilyn Lane wants to be part of editing the website.

Ina will present Cindy Potter Taylor her Past Presidents plaque on November 11, 2020 at our next meeting.

Do we have to “train” our members how to log into our programs?

Alan will not be at our next meeting. Walter and Mona motioned to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 3:40 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Beryl Cole
Secretary[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
