MAY 26, 2021

ABSENT: Beryl Cole; Mona Morris; Joel Sisitsky; Walter Rosenthal

The meeting was called to order by President Ina Getzoff at 1PM. Ina is presently also the acting secretary and prior to reading the minutes for the April 26, 2021 meeting a motion was made by Larry Schulman and seconded by Glenn Segal to accept the minutes as having been submitted. Because we did not have a quorum at this meeting a vote was not possible but the members present agreed to the motion.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Treasurer Larry Schulman went over his financial report and again it could not be voted on but was accepted as submitted.
President’s Remarks: President Ina Getzoff welcomed our IT specialist, John Cole, as a full member of the board. John was surprised and thanked everyone for this.

Vice President’s Remarks: Vice President Eric Sharenow gave the board an update on his July, 2021 workshop project and said he would keep the board updated as it progressed.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
MEMBERSHIP: VP Eric Sharenow reported for VP Joel Sisitsky that the membership renewal notices would soon be going out electronically for the 2021/2022 new year.

RECEPTION: Glenn Segal reported that we had only 48 members at our May 12th meeting and no guests for this particular meeting

MEDIA PUBLICITY: No Report

MEMBER PUBLICITY: No Report

SCATTERED SEEDS: Scattered Seeds editor Allan Huss reported that the new issue of Scattered Seeds would soon be ready to go out. He again asked for help and articles from board members.

PROGRAMMING: Ina Getzoff reported for Beryl Cole. Beryl is working on our programs for the new season and also still looking for a speaker for our Feb. 13, 2022 luncheon. Allan Huss will be our first speaker for our Sept. 1, 2021 meeting and that will be done by Zoom since he will still be in Ohio. His topic will be “The First Wave: Jewish Immigration from the Rhine Valley to the US Before The Civil War”.

Some of the speakers that Beryl has been in touch with want to present live at the South County Civic Center and we are working on that.

DIRECTORY: No Report

WEBSITE: Mona Morris and Walter Rosenthal were not at the meeting so the report was given by John Cole. John reported that among other things the home page of the website will be worked on over the summer to update it and make it more presentable to our members.

SUNSHINE: No Report

OLD BUSINESS:
SCCC Update: President Ina Getzoff said she has been in touch with Cathy Austen at the South County Civic Center and is watching the CDC guidelines before a decision is made about returning to the Civic Center for in-person meetings. She will continue to keep the board members apprised of the situation.

NEW BUSINESS;
JGSPBCI JULY WORKSHOP: VP Eric Sharenow gave his report about this at the beginning of the meeting. He will continue to work on it and report back at the June 23rd meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:25PM. The next board meeting will be on Zoom on Wednesday, June 23rd at 1PM.
