The meeting was called to order by President Ina Getzoff at 1PM. There were no June board minutes read as that meeting was more of a “informal discussion”.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Treasurer Larry Schulman gave the financial report for both June, 2021 and July 2021. Our June, 2021 balance was $25,222.61 and the reserve account has $15,458.10, Our operating account for July, 2021 had a balance of 26,113.61 and the reserve account balance was the same as June, 2021. Larry also said he would be sending a copy of the previously approved budget to the committee chairs for an update on what they spent and what they might need for the new season.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Membership: Membership chair Joel Sisitsky said that membership renewal notices were sent out beginning in June, 2021 and as of this meeting we had only 92 renewals.

MEDIA PUBLICITY: Media chair Walter Rosenthal reported that at the May meeting we had seven paid guests.. He was working on a project to let the communities know of our existence but would not begin to send anything out until we were sure of where our meetings would be held.

PROGRAMMING: Program chair Beryl Cole reported that there has not been any changes as of this meeting in our program schedule for the new
season.

WEBSITE: Website co-chair Mona Morris reported that she was working on a video and powerpoint to be posted on the website after it was approved by both the committee and the board.

OLD BUSINESS:
None

NEW BUSINESS:

FACE TO FACE MEETINGS: There was a discussion regarding going back to our face-to-face meetings at the South County Civic Center. President Ina Getzoff brought the board up to date on what she knew regarding the protocol that has to be followed. After discussion it was decided that with the current change at the SCCC and the upsurge in Covid cases we would stay with virtual meetings at least until the end of the year. We also have our luncheon scheduled now for Feb. 27, 2022 and hope we will be able to still do that.

LIBRARY: Mona Morris suggested we might want to do some virtual “library research sessions” for our members using computer research and if books are needed the board member can get the book from the library and schedule another meeting with the member they are working with. That will be followed up on.

Guest Charges: The board agreed that we would now charge $5.00 for guests to attend our monthly meetings. This is also being done by most other JGS groups.

MEMBERSHIP STATUS: Treasurer Larry Schulman again brought up the issue of membership status and if a member who did not renew his/her membership by Sept. 1 of a given year was still an active member. There was much discussion and no resolution. President Ina Getzoff asked that a motion be made to table this issue for the next meeting. The motion was made by Joel Sisitsky and seconded by Eric Sharenow. The vote was unanimous. It will be placed on the September, 2021 board meeting agenda.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:30PM. The first monthly membership meeting of the new season will be Sept. 1, 2021. The next board meeting will be Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021.
