March 24, 2021

ABSENT: Sylvia Nusinov; Allan Huss; Beryl Cole

The meeting was called to order by President Ina Getzoff at 1PM. Board member Mona Morris made a motion to accept the meeting minutes of the previous meeting on Feb. 24, 2021. The board voted to unanimously approve that motion and the minutes were not read.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Because treasurer Larry Schulman was having a “Zoom issue” getting into the meeting it was decided to move on to the committee reports. Larry did eventually get into the meeting by phone and he went over his report which was accepted. We have $24,937,09 in the operating account and $14,648,10 in the reserve account.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

MEMBERSHIP: Membership chair Joel Sisitsky did not have the exact membership numbers available but both he and co-chair Eric Sharenow believe that the numbers at the time of this meeting were approximately the same as the Feb. 2021 numbers.

RECEPTION: Reception chair Glenn Segal reported that we had 81 people at our March 10, 2021 meeting. He did not know how many of those people may have been guests.

MEDIA PUBLICITY: Media Publicity chair Walter Rosenthal reported that he is looking into the cost of advertising in community newsletters for our meetings next season and will report back at the April board meeting.

MEMBER PUBLICITY: Member Publicity chair Marilyn Lane reported that she and Walter Rosenthal are working on a blog that goes out to our members entitled “Did You Know”. It contains information regarding other meetings and events of genealogical interest that our members can participate in.

PROGRAMMING: President Ina Getzoff reported that in light of the resignation of Dennis Rice she has temporarily taken over the programming committee and is working with the committee members to put programs together for next season. She will keep the board members apprised of the progress.

DIRECTORY/WEBSITE: Directory/Website chair Mona Morris reported to the board on the progress that is being made on our website. Mona reported that the new “member information form” will be going out to our entire membership after she has a short meeting with some of our life members to go over it and have them complete it so she Walter and John Cole know where any “glitches” might be. After that meeting a notice will go out to our membership to have everyone complete the form. They will be able to contact a committee member if they have a problem.

Motion made by Mona Morris: “The website committee has voted to launch the next version of the MEMBERS ONLY section as soon as possible. We ask the board to approve this motion”. The board approved.

SUNSHINE: No Report

OLD BUSINESS:
Scattered Seeds: Ina Getzoff reported in Allan Huss’s absence. Allan has been asking for members to please send him stories and articles for Scattered Seeds.

NEW BUSINESS:
Qesher: Ina Getzoff reported that she has been in touch with a couple from Hungary who are running an organization that provides speakers from around the world-mostly Eastern Europe and Russia and will report back after the next meeting on costs/any political issues, etc.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:45PM. The next general meeting will be Wednesday, April 14, 2021 and the next board meeting will be Wednesday, April 28, 2021.
