COMMITTEE REPORTS

Membership Committee Chair and Vice President : Eric Sharenow stated that as of 8/26/2020 we had a total of 123 memberships. 103 individual members and 20 family memberships. Mona Morris mentioned that because of our Covid pandemic we cannot compare last year with this year. Eric will write them a letter offering them the benefits of membership.

Programming Chair: Dennis Rice proposed that our next meeting would be September 16, 2020 at 1 pm. Our speakers would be Alan Thierman and Ken Cutler. They will both be doing their presentations by Zoom. President Getzoff asked for a motion to have this September 16th membership meeting. Dennis Rice made the motion, Walter Rosenthal seconded the motion. The motion passed 7-3. John Cole, Beryl’s husband will help them with their Zoom presentations. John offered a rehearsal this Thursday, September 10th at 7pm for those interested in learning more about Zoom presentations.

Barbara Nowak suggested that we need additional specific information for the publicity for this meeting. Walter Rosenthal said that the publicity will go out. Larry Schulman suggested that we have a second member meeting each month offering special programming (a workshop on Zoom). Dennis Rice said that would be great, if we find him a co-chair of the programming committee.

Library: Barbara Nowak said that the library is still closed. She suggested that perhaps we could offer our members five searches per person to help with their genealogy during this Covid crisis.

Website: Barbara Nowak said that the website is a “work in progress”. She said that the people working on it have completed their portion and she asked the board to vote to pay them. We owe them $500.00 for the initial programming and transfer. Dennis made the motion to pay them with an appropriate invoice and Mona Morris seconded the motion. The motion passed 11-1. We will still need them to “put up” the new website. Barbara then asked for up to $500.00 for follow up tutoring on how to MAINTAIN the website ($85.00/hour). Dennis Rice made the motion to pay up to $500.00 with an invoice for WordPress tutoring. That motion passed 9 -2. Larry Schulman asked for a WordPress manual for our application. Barbara said there is no manual. But she offered to provide a written access password.

Directory: Our website will host our directory. Eric, Joel and Mona will discuss the changes for the directory.

NEW BUSINESS:

Mona suggested that we contact Eric Sharenow concerning electronic greeting cards (birthday, get well, sympathy, congratulations, etc). Ina wants a presentation on this.
