Board Minutes 2021-01-27

President Ina Getzoff called the meeting to order at 1:15 pm.

Secretary: Beryl Cole asked that the minutes be accepted because they were sent out to the board previously. Dennis so moved and Larry seconded. The vote was unanimous.

President Getzoff  gave a certificate of appreciation and a lifetime membership in JGSPBCI to John Cole for sharing his knowledge and time working on our website.

Treasurer: Larry Schulman presented our financial report. Operating $26,437.88 and reserves $14,728.10. Financial report was accepted unanimously. Larry paid all the bills we had in January. He paid $500.00 to Jewish Gen for our annual donation. Next up was next year’s budget. Larry explained the whole thing. We have ten days to get more information to Larry.

Dennis wants report of all calls for followup for non-renewals, there were 90 people. Who renewed?  Where is the list? (not the first time Dennis has asked for this)

Directory and Website: Mona Freedman Morris reports that she and Walter are working on the directory for the website. It will be user friendly and free to us. Mona thanked John Cole for helping with this.

Mona donated a brand new LED monitor to our JGSPBCI library just before she moved to NY. Thank you, Mona. Mona is working on an appropriate honor for Jackie Fineblit. Jackie was a very important part of our organization. She worked on our second set of By laws and Scattered Seeds. Jackie asked for donations in her memory to go JGSPBCI.  Mona also asked for up to $300.00 to spend on the website to help develop forms for it. Walter and Glenn seconded the motion, it passed unanimously.

President Getzoff introduced Andy Wakshul ,Esq who explained how he updated our bylaws to provide for emergency situations where we can vote, either by phone or electronic means.

Membership: Joel stated that we have 149 single memberships and 46 family memberships, with a total of 241 members. Joel sent out letters to the “guests” at our December meeting.

Registration: Glenn Segal said there were 86 attendees. How many were guests? Walter wants guest list. Larry said we received one donation from Ina’s cousin who was a guest. Eric wants to know how many were previous guests. Walter offered to cross reference the attendees.

Programming: Dennis Rice asked for an assistant. He said our second SOS speaker would be Lawrence Schulman speaking about his third great grandfather with Ken Cutler for April. Still need a speaker for May. We are paying the extra $50.00 for Zoom for each meeting that we expect more than 100 people.

Walter made a motion that we not charge the $5.00 guest fee for the rest of this season. We have a contribution box on the form when they sign up, so we may get donations. The board wants our members to get into the program before the “guests”.  John will have list of guests to hold in separate waiting room.

Dennis mentioned that Eric sent us his philosophy and we will discuss it at our next meeting. Dennis asked John Cole to contact our next speaker, Brue.

A motion made to adjourn at 2:53 pm.
