Board Minutes 2021-10-27(VIRTUAL)

The meeting was called to order by President Ina Getzoff at 1PM. A motion was made by board member John Cole to accept the minutes as sent to the board with just one correction. The motion was seconded by board member Mona Morris and unanimously voted by the board to accept the motion.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Treasurer Larry Schulman reported that our operating account has a balance of $30,417.08 with expenses of $54.11 and receipts of $2,155.00. Our reserve account has a balance of $13,795.10. His report was accepted unanimously by the board.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
MEMBERSHIP: Membership chair Joel Sisitsky did not have numbers available

RECEPTION: Reception chair Glenn Segal reported that we had 123 registrations for our Oct 13, 2021 meeting but had only 79 attendees- 62 members and 17 guests. He asked why this happens and there were several reasons given by some of the board members.

MEDIA PUBLICITY: Media publicity chair Walter Rosenthal reported that he was posting the notice for our Nov 10th meeting on JewishGen and also brought up to the board that he wanted to send small cards to be posted that say “check out our website” to some of the senior communities in the area but was hesitant to do it before bringing it to the board. He will report back to the board at the November board meeting.

MEMBER PUBLICITY: Member chair Marilyn Lane reported that she has been working on several different campaigns with John Cole. She also reported that meeting notices now are going out on Sunday instead of Wednesday and the last notice goes out the day of the meeting with the zoom link attached to it.

PROGRAMMING: Program chair Beryl Cole brought up the idea of year around meetings. There was a discussion and most of the board members agreed that they did not want it and felt they and the membership need the summer to “recharge their batteries”. The discussion was dropped.

SCATTERED SEEDS: No Report

WEBSITE: Website chair Mona Morris reported that work was being done on the website along with a tutorial she was working on for our members.

IT UPDATE: IT chair John Cole reported that he was suggesting that we might have a special meeting for our membership to learn what is being done on our website and maybe learn about “breakout rooms” for special meetings.

OLD BUSINESS:
WORKSHOP UPDATE: VP Eric Sharenow reported that he and treasurer Larry Schulman are working on the next website program. He said they want it to be a “hands on approach” and hope to maybe have it ready by December, 2021.

NEW BUSINESS:
YEAR ROUND MEETINGS: Covered under Programming report.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:50PM. The next general membership meeting will be Wednesday, Nov. 10th, 2021 and the next board meeting will be Wednesday, Nov. 17th, 2021.
